dulce de leche…a simple sweet treat

Did you know if you boil a can of sweetened condensed milk it turns into delicious-can’t-stop-eating-it dulce de leche!? It’s so yummy! Slather your dulce de leche on toast, drizzle it on ice cream, add it to Greek yogurt, stir a spoonful into your coffee, spread it on crackers, or make this cake. It’s delicious!

Directions
Take 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and remove outside paper. Fill a pot with water and boil. Add the can (unopened) into the pot of boiling water. Make sure the water covers the can. Leave the can in the boiling water for 3 hours. (You may need to add water each hour to make sure the can is covered.) Use a tongs to remove the can. It will be hot!! Once the can has cooled, open with a can opener and enjoy your Dulce De Leche! (Store in your fridge, covered–it should last for about 2 weeks.)

These also make great gifts–especially for Valentine’s Day! I boiled 4 cans at a time and it worked well! Wrap containers with ribbon and gift with a cute spreader…or you could remove the Dulce de Leche and place it in a small glass jar.

Did you know? Dulce de Leche translated means jam of milk…makes sense now, right!? I hope you enjoy––let me know what you think!
